Yes, you probably already know that while it is exciting, spending money is a high that leads to a major crash eventually. I racked up $3000 in credit card debt because I was coping from an overbearing wife, spent it all on guns and survival gear. Adds up fast. As soon as I got one gun, a month later I was drooling over another. That's $300-700 a pop. I also used layaway programs but I realize now it was a sickness.
Your husband putting up walls is not unheard of, but he should get the idea out of his mind that you are NOT wealthy, no matter how bad he wants to be, and he has child (children?) to care for. THAT is his responsibility, whether he asked for it or not.
