Hello!
I'm currently taking 150mg of venlafaxine hcl extended release, 300mg of wellbutrin xl, and 25mg of trazodone. I have been on the venlafaxine for over 8 months and this is a pill that (I'm pretty sure) works for me. My problem is with the other two.
I started the trazodone about a month ago; I was prescribed 50mg but I have stayed at 25mg in hopes that the side effects would wear off, but that has not been the case. The wellbutrin I've been taking for about 2 months; I started at 150mg but was increased to 300mg about a month ago. My psychiatrist recently recommended lowering this dose back to the 150mg, but as it is winter break he is not available to write me a prescription for the lower dose.
I have been experiencing pretty bothersome tremors, muscle spasms, and weakness every day. These seem to have increased in severity rather than tapered off or stopped happening--the tremors especially make my life a lot harder than I want it to be. As well as that, today I had a series of brain zaps--I was trying to take a nap and then my brain and legs sort of jolted for a second, stopped, and then a few moments later the same thing happened again. This is the main reason I'm here to get advice, as this is worrisome for me since I've never experienced anything like this before.
Basically, I'm trying to figure out the following: why are these side effects persisting, which pills are causing which side effects (if not both?), and what should I do for the next few weeks while I have no access to my psychiatrist? I do not want to continue experiencing these side effects, and since the trazodone has brought no positive changes I'm considering stopping that one for now--is that safe for me to do/would it be worth trying at this point?
Thank you for reading my long post, and I very much appreciate any responses! As a college student trying to relax on vacation, this all is the opposite of what I wanted to be doing this month
