I think a judgement about whether a person is special or not is subjective. That is, I don't think we can go through the human population and say "This person is special" and "This one is not."

A special bond or love or memory may make a person special to me who means nothing to you, and vice versa.

It does make me wonder if whether we can identify certain influential people as special: Was Mahatma Gandhi special according to some set of objective criteria? Or must one be a peace lover to view Gandhi as special, which again puts the evaluation into the category of subjective.

Interesting question, FB, and I don't see why there would be anything annoying about it in the least. But then, there are all too many people who find me annoying and things worse than that.
