Honestly, I've lived with others and I've lived by myself and living by myself is the best thing that ever happened to me. You like the fan on. If you live by yourself you can have the fan on whenever you need. If you live with others you will in fact have to compromise on things... And you will probably end up living with someone who continually pushes you to compromise on things that you 'need' for things that they 'prefer' because... Most people are like this. Especially when they are young and boisterous...

Like Fresia said, living in a single room on campus is a *wonderful* option precisely because you can lock your door for privacy when you desire it, but there is a whole campus full of people just outside for when you desire that.
