...I love it.

I have been doing my internship for two weeks now. I work on two units of the hospital-- affective disorders (bipolar, depression) and the adult general unit, where most of the patients have psychotic disorders. The 1st day was hard-- I was very triggered by the affective d/o unit... hits so close to home. When I am with the patients, tears come to my eyes. It still happened today, but I am getting better at drawing the line. It was actually easier for me to watch a patient bang his head against a glass wall than it was to watch the depression and the anxiety in the affective d/o unit. But anyway, I absolutely love what I am doing. I have been co-facillitating a lot of music therapy groups, and it such a beautiful thing to watch the patients with psychotic d/o's thrive on the music-- a move towards health. I am so excited to begin to plan and do my own groups-- I have a lot of ideas centered around creative expression-- music/art/poetry, etc. Anyway, I had a very good day, and I just wanted to share.
