possum heres a question I used to ask myself any time something like this happened to me....

what did I tell people before I was diagnosed if I noticed a change in my voice, attitude and behavior?

line in the sand is that having the diagnosis of DID doesnt change anything other than puts a name on whats been happening since the very first alter creation before I was 5 years old. these changes in my voice, attitude and behavior have been happening since before I was 5 years old and before being diagnosed I would not have thought twice about trying to explain it, it was just my normal and I didnt know any different.

My own therapist even helped to put me at ease on this by saying...even normal people's voices, attitudes and behaviors change and they dont go around trying to explain away every time their voice gets louder, softer, cracks, goes horse, goes up or down, normal people dont go around explaining away why their attitude may change during a conversation. they just talk to their friends, they just talk to their co workers, they just talk to their peers. then she told me to really listen the next time someone is talking to me face to face, on the phone or even on the news and notice how normally peoples voices do change millions of times a day, human beings voices, attitudes and behaviors change naturally. just part of being human. even new born and toddler babies babble in a variety of tones, sounds, high, low, middle ...all kinds of changes to their voices, attitudes and behaviors...

After that I didnt worry about trying to explain all the different sounds, tones, attitudes, behaviors. its how i was since before I was 5 and would be that way because its just the way it is. no explanations needed.

by the way people who gossip are going to gossip about everyone they know regardless of whether you give them something to gossip about. just the way human beings are, human beings are a social species since the dawn of time there have been people talking about other people, the earliest form of communication (drawings on cave walls) had to come from somewhere right, they are a history of who did what and who did it when lol the bible is also to some people a history of who did what and when did they do it.

my point is if we worried all the time about who is saying what about us then we wouldnt have time to focus on what we really needed to do for ourselves. human beings are social species that talks as a form of communication so they are going to talk whether you give them a reason to or not. just the way it is with human beings.
