for me TOLERANCE is listening to opinions of others even if you don't agree, and listening, even if the person you are talking to is not really listening or understanding back.Tolerating behaviour that maybe we ourselves wouldnt dream of doing.
UNDERSTANDING is imo , trying to put yourself in someone elses position if they are feeling down or wrong or maybe having a bad day and not losing your temper or going on at how wrong they are, and not judging them in any way shape or form.I think understanding goes together with communication.
RESPECT is to heed another persons religion, thoughts, and to carry out consideration in their beliefs and not tresspass on thoughts or views they may have that are different from our own.It is also to allow a person their own space unconditionally.
these are all my opinions only.
I also think they are all related in the fact that humans sometimes lack all 3. They all have to be taught also.
