I hope the new meds work out well for you. Drowsiness can be a pain but it's unfortunately a side effect of a LOT of psychiatric meds - antipsychotics, antiepileptics (not a psychiatric medication but often used for treatment of psychiatric disorders) and antidepressants included. As your psychiatrist stated: this side effect will likely fade or become more tolerable after a couple of weeks.
