Ok- I know we have a lot of cat lovers here. I need some advice. Over the summer, we adopted a stray cat, at the time she would come in and eat and go right back outside. Soon, she started staying inside more, so we decided to make her our cat, get her vaccinated and get her scheduled to be fix. Well, she went into heat before she got fixed. And she got pg (at the time she was still staying outside a lot and using the bathroom outside). Since she has been pg and its been cold she has stayed inside.
Anyways...she can't be more than 18mos-2 years old. She had her kittens today, we weren't home when she had them, but they can't be more than 12 hrs old. She had 5 all together, one was dead at birth, one was near death be we revived him and seems to be fighting with the other four kitties for nipple to nurse. So, my question is.. they seem like they aren't latching on very long to nurse and seem to be frantic in their efforts to nurse. This is normal right? as they get older and their eyes open they will get better? I am really afraid that our cat is too young to be a good mommy and the kitties are going to get the nourishment that they need. Any cat experts????
