It sounds like he may think you have a different diagnosis than bipolar and was just broaching the subject by asking you if YOU thought you might have a different diagnosis. Sounds like he was recognizing that a patient may very well have his or her own opinion about a correct diagnosis. I'm sure he will develop an opinion if he hasn't already.
