Hi! This is my new thread here.
I've received the diagnosis of bipolar disease in May 2014 and since then I've been taking Lamotrigine 100 mg (in process of increasing the dosage). I've also been taking Citalopram 40 mg since 2011 because of panic atacks, anxiety and depression.
In the end of year my doctor prescribed Topiramate because I was having a lot of episodes of headaches and insomnia from the Lamotrigine. Topiramate would also help me because it's a mood stabilizer and would help me lost some weight too (which I've gained in 2014 with all the changes with my medication).
I started in a small dosage (25mg), but now (one month later) I'm taking 100 mg daily and the depressive mood that I think it's giving me is just killing me! I sleep for hours and hours and when I wake up, I just wish I was dead. I'm completely numb. I'm thinking of going back to 25 mg, because in the first days, Topiramate helped me a lot with the insomnia and the binge eating.
Any of you guys have ever used Topiramate and would like to tell me what it is like for a bipolar person to take this medication?
Thanks a lot!
Carol
