negative reinforcement is actually removing something as a means of reinforcement. For instance, my dog barks until she gets dinner. It's annoying. Once I feed her, she stops barking. The end to the barking is negatively reinforcing me to feed her (yes, I know the training is reversed, my dog and I have talked about this  )... I didn't get anything like that from my DBT experiences, but the stupid chain analyses felt like punishments, as did the myriad of paperwork and the uncomfortable "group processing" sessions for when I "slipped up" and sh'd... Hmm, I guess that can be seen as negative reinforcement though: in theory, none of that would happen if I "behaved" and refrained from the sh... hmm... ok. nm.

Yes. I should have used something more like "adverse consequences" since "negative reinforcement" is ambiguous and can be comprehended differently.
