DBT has never been suggested for me nor would I ever consider it from what I have read about it, but acronyms are not usually something I find useful.
I think CBT treats clients like they are complete morons. Some people really like CBT and give it credit for helping them.
If someone finds those methods useful, then good. I think is is always bad not to have choice at all, but certain choices works for some and not for others.
