Just start doing it. At first you may feel like a lot are happening that you don't write down... But you'll gradually become more aware of them and will "catch" more and more of them... Which is the point. The more aware you are of them, the more control you have of them and the less they can affect you.
If you have a recording app on your cell phone, you could just record the thought like that.
