Well, the need to cry is legitimate, for men as well as women. It's the expectation that's infuriating, and it's equally unfair that a man is expected not to cry. I think the solution is not so much to not cry in front of anyone, but to be careful about the people you choose to let see that part of you.
Of course, this is all hypothetical. I don't cry much either...
