Hi there lauratardis, well you have some good ideas there already. Eating healthy can help some. But stress will show up in sleep too. Being lonely doesn't help. these are things I do myself to help. A body pillow, lavender, chamomile tea, a good read, something that calms me is soft music. I was under some extra stress lately and was waking up with them. I had to get up for a minute, maybe more, find something to distract me like music, and then go back to sleep. Welcome to this site, I hope you find your way around here, it has really been a great support. I don't think we can stop anything at times, but go with it and through it. I don't have any other ideas but someone else might. Take care.
