When things start to irritate me, I check my breathing and make sure to take slow, deep breaths. I do it about ten times. It helps to slow the pulse rate and takes you away from the irritation for a short period giving you time to think before you react.
Sometimes though, I react before I do the breathing and usually regret it. Irritability is something I deal with a lot. It seems like everything my husband does irritates me.

I've been practicing the breathing so I don't yell, but it takes a lot of practice.
