I have nightmares a lot, more than once a week usually. I don't know how to really help. I've asked my therapist and doctors about it, but they don't really have a solution besides medication. The only thing I can suggest is I tend to watch a movie that is really funny to get my mind off of it otherwise, like you, it'll just stay on my mind all day. Also, I'm sure you know but don't hate your mom over it, since it was a dream. I think if you can get your mind off of the dream, it'll help.
