maybe its different now but 10 working days was the normal amount of time to turn everything in and process out of the system. Medals are given with a document to prove you received them so write to records keeping in St Louis and ask for them. if you were deployed there will also be orders to prove your claims.
If you were turned down you should have received a letter of denial and you have a year to appeal and your unit has nothing to do with the process.
