I'm here to ask for advice concerning a problem I have.
I suffer from anxiety. This is exacerbated in a few certain situations. One of those situations is driving a motorized vehicle. It's a huge part of the reason why, despite being nearly 25 years old, I don't have a valid driver's license.
I do have a permit, however, and in recent months, I had been doing much better as far as my anxiety. By that, I mean I had little to no anxiety at all. I was able to drive my sister-in-law's van into town and park perfectly in a parking spot. It seemed like my anxiety had subsided...or so I thought.
Today, I drove my mother's truck, and despite doing really well, that feeling of anxiety came back again. My chest hurt, and I felt like I was going to throw up. I know that feeling from when I first started trying to learn to drive several years ago.
What tips, advice, or encouragement can you give me as far as handling/managing my driving anxiety? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
