Actually Klonopin, or any benzo cannot be described as "benign." Benzos are highly addictive. Klonopin out of all of them, is the best though due to it's longer half life.

I also have to disagree that there is a "typical" dosage. Docs prescribe it in a variety of dosages depending on the desired outcome.
