Hello Valerieanne77, welcome to Psych Central.

These medications can take a while to get into your system, it can take a month or more for them to work properly. I would follow the instructions your doctor gave you. You can read up on the various medications here >>> Psych Central Reviews - Medications I would also suggest reading the patient information leaflet that should be in the packet. You could also try asking your questions about medication here >>> Psychiatric Medications Sleep is very important, if you are going for a few days without sleep, then you really need to go back to your doctor for a medication to help you sleep, one of the 'Z' medications such as zopiclone.
