I had no idea what I was unleashing when I started this thread.

My father was only in the Navy during WWII.

When you said you were born in Guam, it made me think if he had stayed in, I could have been born in Guam too!

I heard recently that the government of Alaska pays people to live in Alaska -- kind of like a reverse income tax.
