I had never associated my intolerance to heat with my Paxil medication till reading the recent post by a new member here mentioning this regarding a similar medication.
I just did a Google search and found that there is evidence that this is a common symptom of people on antidepressants! Who knew???? Not me...I just thought it was my aging that was causing it. Now I suspect differently since other people my age (56) have no such problems.
I've been taking antidepressants for 15 or so years, now on 40 mg. of Paxil daily. My intolerance to heat has resulted in a lot of lifestyle changes...not walking or working outside in warm/hot weather, keeping fan near me at school and at grad school studio art classes, cancelling my participation in art fairs several years ago when I became so ill from the heat! Ah ha!! Now I see that the medication may be the cause of this.
I keep my house unusually cool, even cold, especially at night as I cannot sleep if it is the least bit warm. Wondering if I should cut back or even wean off the medication.
