Mom will be 75 this September. She has just had the fifth, and hopefully, last, surgery on her left hip. This time recovery is very slow and she had to go to a rehab place for therapy and care. She has never been one to listen very well to doctors orders. She has been doing lots of things that she is not supposed to do, and cannot figure out why she is there so long. I am hoping that they keep her until we are back from a trip to Wisconsin for a wedding. Also, she is showing beginning stages of Alzheimers, and that makes it harder. Mom and Dad's home has five steps that she has to be able to go up to get in the door, and Dad refuses to move to a better equipped place. Laundry is in the basement, and he will just have to do the laundry. She probably will never be able to go to the basement again. This is really scary because she does not listen, and we know she will be driving before she is supposed to. I guess there is nothing we can do there. Just pick up the pieces again!! This is very hard when they do not listen, and I'm sure a lot of folks go through this.
