As you mentioned that perhaps you lack of empathy, I wanted to mean that you are not probably very concern with people's interests. And you know, people like talking about themselves a lot. Specially the extroverts.

I was just throwing a guess out there because when it comes to morbidity people get too touchy feely and emotional. People who seem to have boundaries on what to talk about. It's all eggshells.
They feel fake to me. As if they are trying to make themselves sound like a saint.
What annoys me is when people say they like to "laugh at everything" but don't really mean that. You're contradicting yourself by saying don't use this humor but it's worthy to laugh at everything.
In the end people are either too soft or like to be upset about something because they're lives are dull.
