My aging mother also had cataract surgeries. She was seeing better (colors, brightness) within a day or two..though focus didn't settle down for another few days I think. The main problem she had was the surgery was not in early morning, and she couldn't eat, so by the time she was allowed to go home she was starving and ate too much.... she became sick from doing so (anesthesia.)
