Went jog/walking this morning. Increased the running portion by 30 seconds. I know it may not sound like much, but with fibromyalgia and the potential for exercise-induced flares, it was all I dared to do. On days that I do this exercise, it makes me feel so good. Is great for my lingering depression.
Self care = going to an AA meeting and then lunch with a friend afterward. She's one of my friends that I was going to do the 55-mile relay race with. I think I need to tell her today that, due to my fibromyalgia, I don't think I'll be in shape enough to do a 3.4 mile leg of the race by the end of April.
It would be awesome if, eventually, I could work my way up to running a 5k. At this point, it seems like a pipe dream. I know of other people who have fibromyalgia and run miles, so they're an inspiration for me. They speak of getting painful flares occasionally from their running. I really wonder if they get the tremendous fatigue that I get as part of my flares. Monday I have an appointment with my physician and I'm going to talk to him about my exercise-induced flares to see if he has any treatment/prevention ideas.
Thanks for reading my long post!
