If I take some time and really think about it, I can find the brighter side of snow.

1) Snow always has this white glow at night even without there being a moon shining on it....so it's easier to see where one is walking. (what in the world am I doing outside at night walking in snow

(giving dogs a potty walk)
2) what I love the most about the snow is that you can see all the little animal tracks in it & you can see what critters really do wander around my farm

.....I am so sorry to hear about all you are going through with your Dad. I hope that he gets through this difficult time & had some well time in a short while. It's so difficult caring for aging parents....they always tell us that they cared for us when we were babies but babies are a lot smaller & babies usually have this cute thing going for them unlike aging parents who usually have this grumpy independent thing going because they really don't WANT to be cared for in the first place.....my heart is with you through all of this.

I can't abide cold, can't function, get depressed, moan and generally go around the house with a hot water bottle strapped to my tummy!!!

I have a huge house so I always keep the heat pump set low. Then I have space heaters in the rooms I live in (bedroom, computer room, & bathroom)..I keep the rooms heated when I'm in them. I was a little lax in turning them off after leaving the room & it raised my electric bill by $100. I will be more careful this month & it has already had warmer days.

in that most awesome beautiful place called Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Whilst I was there in spring, your description easily made me picture the place in the midst of crisp white wonderland!! You, whizzing around in the snow, which you wanted to transform to MUD!!
|
....OH NO NO!!!!!..LOL..Jackson Hold should NEVER be transformed into mud nor should Yellowstone where you can only go into the park on snowmobiles (on the plowed road) or by snow cat or x-country skiis. The steam from off the HOT water creates ghost trees....in the fog it's absolutely gorgeous....Have never seen anything so beautiful & pristine.
MUD only in my front yard (right in front of my house). I drive my truck up to the front door. Snow & ice melts & my huge tires just tear up what grass is left & I get to slide around & spin my wheels until I remember to put it in 4x4. I actually have a circular gravel driveway on the side of the house. Managed to back up too far trying to turn around the other day & went down off the driveway just a little. Didn't realize I had done that to start with until I put it in drive to go forward & the tires just spun......put it in 4x4 & was fine.
The red mud in Sedona Arizona after it snowed the time we were there was a fun challenge to drive in also....My jeep found a fire road it wanted to take (just for fun). Mud was so thick it stuck to the tires I poor jeep started sliding down the road once I finally got turned around. I call it entertainment.....others have another name for it.
