Thats why bezos. are supposed to be used with utmost caution. The downregulate the GABAa sub-receptors quickly. If used every day and that can lead to tolerance and addiction. Most pdocs these days will possibly keep a patient on 4 mg-maxed out but the idea is to wean you off very easily. Which is not possible; If even taking 2 mgs a day. It can take months and yrs and there are cognitive issues with long term benzo use. The pdocs (responsible) today will possibly keep a patient on a benzo for 2 weeks and past is pushing it. The receptors actually will die out. The reason is they are waiting for another anxiolytic. That does not pose a huge monster to kick in. The other responsible way is prn. Basically when having a panic attack or occasion only but everyone must realize that can become a daily use too. As the effects are not as strong as wanted.
I have known people on benzos for yrs keeping diligent just for prn use but they are an effective but addictive med.
Once used regularly even at 2mg can take months to come off of and again cognitive/ memory issues!
