You can also check on any mental health professional licensed by your state (psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, etc) - if they have faced disciplinary action that's a matter of public record and you have a right to that information. It would have saved me a world of hurt to have known what my good old doc was up to before I walked into his office.
