There isn't a week that goes by that I don't receive some warning about an email circulating or a type of scam going on. They all seem to come down to one thing: THINK first! I have my blockers on my emails, so I don't even read the average scam subject line. Then, when it is from someone I don't know... it's just deleted. If it uses poor English in the subject line ALSO from someone I don't know.. it's tagged as spam and the address is blocked and it's deleted automatically. I don't open but what I asked for, or allow from ppl I know. That's simple. IF my ISP or bank wants to contact me with information, they have my contact information. I might open an email from a business I use, but I will NEVER click on any link provided within that email. I will go to their home site from my list of favorites etc. I make sure the bank I use has secure protocols, and if something on my computer blocks it, I call them (yes, pick up the telephone and call.) Actually with my email, I have it categorized so I rarely read any in the Main listing just go to the categorized emails from friends and family and businesses I do business "with." I pay all my bills from my banking account online, never at the business' site. If I use paypal, I change the password after I finish. Oh yeah, if I do get an email from a business I know, and it includes a link, I forward it TO the legitimate business email addy so they know what's out there (in case it isn't from them.) Let them fight their own battles.
