I've taken Klonopin for about 4 years. I take .5 mg. twice per day. I would say it is very "behind the scenes" for lack of a better term. I don't feel clumsy and out of it like I did on Valium (yes, someone actually prescribed that), Doxepin, or Ativan. It is relaxing, but you don't even realize it's there.
