The third therapist I went to at the age of 27, even though I know my BP started at 15, and I had started going to therapy at 15. The first two psychologists should have there licenses revoked, but that's a long long story. The therapist that figured it out was listening to me talk about a recent incident where I was out of control irritable and he said " I think you might have bipolar?" He talked to my psychiatrist and he put me on Lamictal and then I realized when the medicine kicked in, "now everything makes sense."

If your not satisfied with your treatment go to another pdoc. I dealt with a horrible pdoc for the first seven years of my diagnosis (not the one that started me on lamictal, he left the practice just after I was diagnosed.) Just this last year in March I decided I was not happy living my life like I was, so I took a chance and went to a new pdoc. I wanted one that was younger and kept up on new discoveries in the psych world. This guy knows his **** and has been so patient with me, instead of my last pdoc saying "I don't know what I can do for you anymore." Take a chance and get another opinion, don't wait like I did.
