I know what you are going through. I don't forget my mom's birthday as it's July 4th, so it's kind of hard to forget it. But, I do pass by the day she died almost every single year (going on 25 this November). I think about it a week before the anniversary and then every single day up until that fateful day. Then for some reason, on that day, I don't give her passing a thought. And I think I know why....it's painful. It hurts like hell. It's our minds way of getting us through what would be a difficult day should we remember. I used to feel horrible when I woke up the next day remembering that I had forgotten....but in reality, I didn't forget, I just let it be.
