It's generally not my situation that's the problem. There's really nothing wrong in my life at all. I live a great life. The feelings seem unconnected.

Someone above said about listening to thoughts. My problem is actually that I am so cognitively aware that I sort of 'miss' the emotional experience - I don't notice how I feel because I'm concentrating on my thoughts. I have noticed sometimes that I feel bad when I'm not thinking anything upsetting, though.

What I ended up doing this time was imagining the feeling and seeing what images came up for me. What came up was not winning a competition where there was a prize I really wanted, which is how I came up with the feeling of 'disappointment'.

That seemed to help.
