Once I got my correct dx and went on meds the drinking and pill popping stopped so I assume it was more a self medication than addiction, but AA was still helpful.
I have done such awful things drunk- things my husband would be so hurt from and my kids horrified. I hardly ever drink to point of drunk now bc it seems 1 or 2 drinks now makes me instantly depressed and suicidal which takes all the fun out of drinking
Look at your list everyday. Do you have a therapist to help? Best of luck to you

Sometimes I wonder if I should go to AA. The thing is that I'm not an alcoholic. I have a bottle of Vodka sitting in my room all the time and don't touch it until it's time to socialize/go out with friends...in which case I drink a heck of a lot of it. I do get urges to drink it sometimes though, but they're fleeting.
Sometimes my drinking is self-medicating too. I'll be depressed, so I want the high and I drink a ton to have that high for a night. Really it's hypomania I think.

Oooo gross. XD. I hope you didn't get hurt when you climbed on the roof of the house! And yeah, a lot of that sounds dangerous.

I'd add these to mine... - After two or three, it's bound to be at least ten.
- You always seem to misplace your phone and/or another important thing.
- After a couple, your tongue gets disconnected from your brain.
- Medication and booze don't mix. Seriously. That's why there's warnings on the bottle.
- Your liver already hates you.

Thanks!
Those are great reasons. I totally agree with your first one. For me if I have 2 drinks, it's 5+. The high is there and I get all "awww, more won't hurt" and I'm just a goner after that. I can MAYBE have one, but I haven't tried that yet.
I agree with the medication. The effects are wiped away due to the alcohol.
