You know, just as aside, yesterday I was looking at web page and an ad for instantcheckmate or whatever was there. It occurred to me to look myself up.

So I went to the site. Of course they want money. So I go to leave the page...sign says 'hey wait, how about 5 days of unlimited searches for $1. Just cancel before being billed.'

Well, that stopped me for a second. I sat there in front of that screen for a good 15 minutes trying to figure out just how I felt about this sort of thing, and how far it would inevitably go.

Proudly (at least in my mind), I resisted, and solely based on principle, refused to participate in this whole idea that if one is not completely transparent, one is by default being deceptive.

I am sure, like everything else, it will all be mindlessly accepted by the masses, likely without most really even noticing.

Maybe this bothers me because I came from perhaps the last generation not to have to deal with most of the tools/things possible now, but I don't see too many other people my age (45) raising a ruckus.
