Hi, I have the same problem, my hair is very very fine and thin. I want it long, I like it long, but like you it's just to thin to do much with. I should know by now (went through hairstyling school), but it took me years to find the right thing to do. Colouring it occasionally, or highlights, actually makes the hair thicker ( a little damage to it, and it opens up the hair so it can absorb conditioner and thickeners and mousse and such easier), but I don't do that often because it is hard on the scalp. Then an about shoulder length cut, with some layers but not many, to give it a lift. Blowdry it upside down to also help with some mousse, but not too much conditioner, it weighs the hair down. The front of my hairline is the worst so a long bang, but long enough I can put it up when it does finally get hot here. Hope that helps.
Oh, and please don't shave it off ... almost done that in frustration sometimes, I made it less than an inch long and was very disappointed, I still think having some length even though it is so fine is nicer than short, but if you ask a hairdresser they will tell you the shorter the better to make it seem thicker. Or don't do layers, but depends on how you want to style it. ok, had too much coffee today I think?
Thanks for this!
