FWIW and IMHO, stopping significant dosages of lithium, Abilify and Lamictal cold turkey after a Bipolar I diagnosis without telling your husband, who is also exposed to the consequences of your withdrawal and relapse because you don't believe the medications help is neither careful nor safe. The disease is dangerous and withdrawal from psychotropic medications is potentially dangerous. It's not too late to resume the meds and discuss your intentions with your psychiatrist, considering the alternative of discontinuing the meds by tapering them off slowly at less risk to a shock to your system, and let your husband in on your plans.

The pain and consequences of withdrawal and relapse can make you believe. Read the accounts on this forum of patients who have taken similar actions, mine included. Please be careful.
