The amount your will receive is based on what your income was while working averaged out, they have a specific way to calculate it.

You will get all the info in the mail , showing the amount and when you will receive it monthly.

As for telling anyone you are on it? Well that is up to you. Other than my Husband, Daughter and a couple friends I choose to keep it to myself. Don't ever feel pressured to discuss it. If someone keeps pressing you, Just look at them and give a long blink and say " Wow I can't believe you are asking such personal questions" and change the topic.

Being on disability is nothing to be ashamed of. Its a difficult process as I am sure you know.
