Hello! As someone with POCD I stay far, far away from anything cybersex related because of the possibility that someone will lie about their age. For this reason I know very little about it, and so when my friend asked me about her situation I wasn't sure what to tell her.

She's 22, and is feeling guilty about something she did at 20. She went on an anonymous webcam site hoping to have cybersex, with the intent of skipping over anyone underage. She also had anonymous encounters with people online. She'd ask their age, and if they said under 18 she'd skip over them.

Now she's feeling horribly guilty, because she knew back then there was always the possibility of a minor lying, but she rationalized that more likely than not that wouldn't happen and that she shouldn't let fear keep her from engaging in a "normal" behavior.

Now she's worried she broke the law because she heard that for indecent exposure laws you have to be aware there's a risk a minor might be present and disregard that risk.

She hasn't done anything like that since she was 20 because she figured as an adult it was time to stop taking such risks.

Is what she did normal? Legal? Should I help her alleviate her guilt, or has she done something wrong?
