When both are unstable this would lead to chaos. For instance, money would disappear without any personal responsibility. No money would mean no bills get paid. How can they be there for each other when this both are unstable? I think there needs to be one stable person. A person can still love a person and be there for them without understanding why they are behaving the way they do. In this situation, understanding is overrated. JMHO
