Could you sell your contract to someone else? Actually, I think they would let you out of it with a note from your doctor just saying that for medical reasons you can't live there. They don't have to go into any specifics. I'd really feel better about you not living alone. Would getting a roommate in the apartment you have now be an option? Or are there neighbors you could get to know and interact with regularly? That would be something.

I am glad that your burns are not as bad as you thought they were. Hang in there and keep rowing. Actually, sometimes you have to stop, get out of the water, and do some patching.
