I dont know why someone would keep asking if you're mad at them. I don't think it's out of guilt, but it might be a form of manipulation, and maybe they don't even know they're doing it. Is it just because you two don't talk for a certain period of time? Next time they ask if you're mad at them, ask them why they keep asking that.
