I have a similar problem. I had been on BCPs all my life. Last year, I went off the pill because I was turning 49 and I had already been hot-flashing, having perimenopausal symptoms for years. I figured the odds of getting pregnant were tiny so why keep taking them? Well, the hot flashes became nearly impossible to deal with, no sleep, drenched at night, not to mention the irritability/mood swings.

A few weeks ago I had a blood test done to see where my hormones are at. Today I got the results and all hormones are in the normal range! I had hardly any period at all on the pill in the last couple of years, and when I went off, I had NO periods, so that's been about 10 months that I've been off the BCPs.

I asked why I was having these horrible symptoms when the hormones were showing normal?!!! He wants to do a progestin challenge to see if my menstruation can be kick-started. I don't understand how my hormones levels could be normal and no periods. Also, why would menstruating make me feel any better when the hormones are already in the normal range. I'm confused!

I'm sick of it due to the insomnia. I haven't had a full night's rest in god knows how long.
