I don't think he's waiting for you to get back in touch with him and apologize, I think he's a player that doesn't care at all. He doesn't sound like a manipulator, he sounds like a typical jerk who got what he wanted and lost interest.
You did the right thing. No, he's not waiting for you to call him again, he probably forgot about the entire thing and now he's onto using another girl and tossing her out in 2.5 months too.
Ditch him, forget him, move on, get a man who treats you like a queen.
