I understand what you're saying and think this makes a lot of sense. Though I am a big fan of both CBT and DBT, I think there needs to be a specific goal on the part of the client or a deep personal desire to make a very specific change that relates to their behavior. That is why it is used often and is very useful with people with addiction or personality disorders. It's not going to get rid of or help eradicate major depression where more support and insight into their feelings is needed.
