I think you can politely say that you just would like to take the class rather than ask about it. All you have to say is that you are unsure of the questions you want to ask and would feel better by taking the class to learn for yourself. You don't have to turn down the opportunity. But you also shouldnt have to answer to help you aren't wanting.
