50mg isnt that high of a dose but it should be sedating if you have just started it. What dose does she want you on eventually? Is it for sedative or for mood stabilisation?

I was on it for a couple years 900mg XR before I got sick of the weight gain, restless legs and other side effects but it was good for me and worth the side effects for about 2 years. Really I think I went off it as I was swinging up - I dropped it so fast and spent 6 months in hypomania.

I've been on and off it prn for years, the lower doses are sedating. I dont take it now as I prefer zyprexa too for prn.
